  • Unexpected Time With My Crush: A GIF Story!

This was not how things were supposed to go.

So I'm going to the lake with my friends, and I'm all excited, like,

I get there and get out of my car, go to hug my friend like,

but then I see the guy I like with them, who nobody told me would be there, and I'm like,

And my friends look at me like,

We all go to go swimming, and I'm all,

Then some of my friends and I go get us all pizza and they laugh at me about the situation, and I'm like,

Then our other friend tells me to talk to him, and I go,

I hug all but him goodbye, and I'm like,

Then my friend makes me hug him, and I'm like,

    Then I leave like,

    And drive away like,

Later I text my friends, like,

    And they're like,

  • When Your Friends Drink and You Don't

I'll just say it now - I hate alcohol.  Hate, hate, hate it.  It smells disgusting, and it makes people act incredibly stupid, forgetful, and regretful.

My friends and I are not old enough to be legally drinking it, and that's just fine by me, of course.  However, the older I get, the more I realize that other people have different plans.  Multiple friends of mine have gotten into drinking - and getting wildly drunk - just for the fun of it.

I don't know what to do in this kind of situation.  I have no respect for people who get wasted for fun, but these people are my friends.  I don't want to lose them just because they're into something I'm not - but I can't pretend to be okay with what they do.  Some of them have had drinks around me without telling me, and since I have trouble telling when people are drunk, I usually have to find out later - at which point, I've even been lied to about it.  I end up feeling betrayed, and I hate hearing stories about them getting drunk and doing stupid things, even when it didn't happen around me.  It makes me disgusted with them, and I worry that I'll lose my friends because I can't handle their habits.

What would you do in this type of situation?  How do you handle friends whose habits you can't support?

  • 3 Simple Ways to Get Clearer Skin

To be honest, I don't really know what my skin type is.  However, one thing I can say is that I believe that I have acne prone skin.  If I do certain things, it'll break out.  However, through trial and error, I've figured out a few ways to help keep my skin clear and happy, and so I wanted to share them with you guys, because I wish someone would have told me these things earlier.  Oh, and the best part is, these tips are all easy, quick, and free!

    1) Drink more water.

I never realized what an impact drinking more water could have on the clarity of my complexion until I caught a bad cold and, for two days, downed tons and tons of water to soothe my inflamed throat.  About a day or two after I started guzzling more water, I noticed that I didn't have any breakouts, when I usually always have one coming or going.  It's kind of a pain to get into, but water is refreshing - I find that drinking water with ice, using a straw or pretty water bottle, or adding flavoring helps.  Start by keeping a glass by your computer if you're having trouble!

    2) Rinse off your cleanser.

Seems obvious, but I noticed that, when I started more dilligently rinsing my face after scrubbing, it appeared to be clearer.  I attribute this to the fact that cleansers break down all the dirt, oil, and makeup on your face, and if you don't rinse well enough, you've basically just made those particles smaller and, thusly, more easily lodged in your pores.  Just a little extra rinsing can go a long way to clearer skin.

    3) SMILE!

Stress is a large factor in my skin.  If I freak out, I can develop painful rashes and breakouts, on my face and the rest of my body.  I find that my skin is better behaved when I stress less and try to focus on the big picture.  As I get older, I realize more and more that life is a beautiful thing and that, even if things seem bad for a moment, they WILL get better.  I also follow the mantra "Never be afraid to make a fool of yourself", and I try to be nice to everyone and not let people or little things get me down.  It sounds difficult, but if you put your mind to it, it becomes second nature.  And it's healthy for the rest of you, too!

I hope this helps some of you guys! (:

  • Have You Tried General Value Products?

Recently I've been reading excellent things about General Value Products, a line of haircare products sold at Sally's that claim to give the same results as (and have nearly the same exact ingredients as) pricey prducts from companies like Biolage and Paul Mitchell, and Redken, for a much cheaper price. I'll admit that at first I was skeptical - after all, how could we as consumers be so blinded as to pay that much extra for the same ingredients and results for this long? Online reviews, however, have led me to believe differently, and so I decided to try GVP's knockoff of Biolage's highly praised Conditioning Balm. I have to say, I'm a tad impressed. While I've never tried the original, the GVP version is cheap ($5.99 for a whopping 16 fluid oz.!), smells just like a salon product, and leaves my hair feeling a little softer and smelling fresh. I haven't seen any astoundin results, but I hope they will come as i use the product more regularly. Even if it isn't as good as the real thing, the price is enough to make this a probable repurchase for me. Have you or will you try the GVP line? if you have, how do you think it compares?

  • IS This American Apparel Hoodie Worth It?

I'm thinking of buying this pullover hoodie from American Apparel in the color Charcoal.
Lots of people claim AA has great quality and super soft shirts and essential hoodies, so I've come to see it as "the best of the best" for long-time basics.

It's a little pricey at $35 (that's after my 25% off coupon code and shipping charges), but the fit and the quality might just make the higher cost worth it.  Plus, it's something I could throw on with a pair of skinny jeans and some boots and still be comfy and cute.  And if I replaced the drawstring with a white one, it could be pretty sweet.

What do you guys think?  Would you buy something like this for fall?
