To be honest, I don't really know what my skin type is. However, one thing I can say is that I believe that I have acne prone skin. If I do certain things, it'll break out. However, through trial and error, I've figured out a few ways to help keep my skin clear and happy, and so I wanted to share them with you guys, because I wish someone would have told me these things earlier. Oh, and the best part is, these tips are all easy, quick, and free!
1) Drink more water.
I never realized what an impact drinking more water could have on the clarity of my complexion until I caught a bad cold and, for two days, downed tons and tons of water to soothe my inflamed throat. About a day or two after I started guzzling more water, I noticed that I didn't have any breakouts, when I usually always have one coming or going. It's kind of a pain to get into, but water is refreshing - I find that drinking water with ice, using a straw or pretty water bottle, or adding flavoring helps. Start by keeping a glass by your computer if you're having trouble!
2) Rinse off your cleanser.
Seems obvious, but I noticed that, when I started more dilligently rinsing my face after scrubbing, it appeared to be clearer. I attribute this to the fact that cleansers break down all the dirt, oil, and makeup on your face, and if you don't rinse well enough, you've basically just made those particles smaller and, thusly, more easily lodged in your pores. Just a little extra rinsing can go a long way to clearer skin.
3) SMILE!
Stress is a large factor in my skin. If I freak out, I can develop painful rashes and breakouts, on my face and the rest of my body. I find that my skin is better behaved when I stress less and try to focus on the big picture. As I get older, I realize more and more that life is a beautiful thing and that, even if things seem bad for a moment, they WILL get better. I also follow the mantra "Never be afraid to make a fool of yourself", and I try to be nice to everyone and not let people or little things get me down. It sounds difficult, but if you put your mind to it, it becomes second nature. And it's healthy for the rest of you, too!
I hope this helps some of you guys! (:
